I’m not quite sure why, but last night’s meeting was almost magical! We had a full house with 26 present, including 3 guests.
We are up to 27 members now. Thank you for joining and being an active participant in our growing roundtable!
We had a robust raffle which added $49 to the treasury! In addition to the first installment of 5 books Denise donated from John Stump’s library, members brought in many others. It’s a great way to promote the group and add to our collective knowledge of the Civil War.
Next month’s program is on the battle of Cades Cove, near Knoxville, TN.
We’ve had a request to have group dinner soon, prior to a meeting. Does anyone have a venue they would recommend for it? Also, if you know of a Civil War-related activity that would interest the group this summer, let Margaret Hobson know. Our intent was to hold the summer meetings outside somewhere but we need some ideas. (Comment here or send suggestions to CWRTNEI@aol.com) Perhaps we could attend the Civil War Letters Concert at Manchester University in October as a group?
